Following the successful implementation at four BT data centres, data destruction company, Shred Easy is launching a new hard drive destruction service.

The new service securely audits and destroys obsolete hard drives on-site, at customers' premises, following a secure and auditable process:

1. All hard drives are electronically recorded using a bespoke barcode scanning process which records all the drives' unique serial numbers

2. With each hard drive catalogued and saved electronically, the customer is issued with a Hard Disk Drive Destruction Certificate.

3. Shred Easy operatives will then transfer the audited hard drives to the waiting collection/shredding vehicle.

4. Hard drives are fed into the high capacity shredding machine where the material is destroyed to BSIA standards.

5. Once the secure destruction process has been completed, the customer is issued with a referenced Certificate of Destruction, providing them with a complete audit trail and confirming their compliance under the Data Protection Act.

Commenting on the launch, managing director of the compnay, Jim Watson, said: "Our new on-site hard drive destruction service provides the most secure, green and effective way for companies to control their confidential data."
